Are You Kidding Me Harry Potter?

Harry Potter hasn't really ticked me off before, until now. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince WAS to be released November 21st, 2008, but now Warner Brothers has completely thrown us a curve ball by delaying it's premiere until NEXT JULY.

Wait, WHAT?

Yes, the next installment of the Harry Potter movies will not be seen for basically another year. Why you ask? WB's official reason is that "we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films — changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of," by pushing the release to next July to "perfectly fill the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer."

Translation: "It's waaay not ready."

I mean, it's their movie, they can do whatever they want. I've just never heard of a movie being delayed for that long because of any reason other than it not being ready.

Who knows, maybe they forgot to press record when they thought they were filming, only to realize at the very end that they'd been acting out an entire movie's worth of scenes for no reason.Or maybe, just maybe, an intern sent all the reels of film through that giant Magic Eraser that is the airport X-ray machine...

In any case, I'm not too happy about it but I think I'll live. After all, High School Musical 3 is still coming out in October, so I'll just have to depend on that to hold me over.

I figured it out! The movie's ready- they wouldn't have released the trailer with the wrong date if it wasn't. Warner Brothers just doesn't want to look like a loser next year. Thanks to The Dark Knight, they've already out performed everyone else this year. Harry Potter would have just added to that. But by moving it to next year, they can have two solid years in a row!
