Your Weekly Erin McCarley Report: He's Just Not That Into You

So it seems like once a week I've got another place for you to hear Erin McCarley's music. This week her song "Love, Save the Empty" is in the trailer for the new film He's Just Not That Into You, starring Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Connelly, Justin Long, Kevin Connolly, Bradley Cooper, and Scarlett Johansson, or in other words, every middle-aged and good-looking actress and actor in Hollywood. No word yet on if the song is actually in the movie. But we shall see when it comes out Feb. 6, 2009.

Enjoy!

This Was My First Luby's Thanksgiving...

...And it was FANTASTIC. I mentioned earlier that I wasn't able to go home for Thanksgiving dinner because of the Texas/A&M game being tonight in Austin. So my parents flew down and we partook in a scrumptious meal at Luby's Cafeteria, and yall, it was awesome.

I'm not a huge fan of the traditional Thanksgiving food anyway so it was perfect that I was able to get my usual fried fish, mashed potatoes w/cream gravy, and macaroni and cheese. And for the first time EVER at Thanksgiving, I totally cleaned my plate.
We also had this ridiculous piece of Oreo pie. It was RIDICULOUS.So enjoy the rest of your day, and Hook 'em Horns!

Rosie's Variety Show Flopped

Aaand is anyone actually surprised by this?

It was on for about 5 minutes during Bingo last night, but someone requested that the channel be changed. Sorry Ro.

Again, it's one of those things that, had someone just asked ME, I could've told them not to even bother attempting a live Rosie variety show... But once again, no one asked me.

What Thanksgiving Means to Me

Thanksgiving is definitely one of my favorite holidays of the year besides Christmas, my birthday, and April Fool's Day. Seriously, I love Thanksgiving. Well, except for the food. I've never been a huge fan of the turkey or stuffing. Where most people eat an insane amount of food on Thanksgiving, I definitely eat hardly anything. But that's OK, this year my parents are coming to Austin (since we have to stay here for the UT/A&M game) and we're going to LUBY'S for lunch aaand I'm really excited about that. (Fried fish, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese, please!)

What I like the most about Thanksgiving is that it gives me time to look back on my year and celebrate all the things I'm thankful for (I'm sure you're expecting me to say something sarcastic here, but I'm actually being serious).

This year I have many things to be thankful for...

Friends and Big Game Nights!Amazing SunsetsTwo awesome trips to Disney World and another on the way!Spring Break in Crested Butte, ColoradoA Lake Overflowing with WaterRescuing the Flying Whale
This monkey that stuck his tongue out at us at the Oklahoma City ZooThis Ca-RAZY Vulture at the OKC Zoo

Meeting Joel McHale from The Soup!Celebrating Big Daddy's 88th Birthday!
Getting the New iPhone!
Becoming a LonghornBrother Justin Receiving the President's Award at Southwest Airlines
Mini Burgers at Ruby TuesdayAlexis and Me Being Amazing.Friends Visiting Austin!Creating Marvin the SCARY Jack-o-Lantern with AlliHigh School Musical 3

I'm sure I left PLENTY of things out, but 2008 has been great and we've still got a month and a few days left to enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving, and Hook 'em Horns!

What the heck happened to YouTube? Why is it all widescreen?

Last night I got on YouTube to do my typical procrastination of homework by watching YouTube, when what to my wandering eyes should appear but a weird looking widescreen window that all the videos now play in.

I mean, I understand WHY they did it. After all, Vimeo has had HD videos for what seems like forever. YouTube had to upgrade at some point. But hello, you could've given us some warning!

Not that that would have changed anything, I suppose.

But ya, so now, until I find a way to start filming in HD, all my videos are gonna look stupid.

Thanks YouTube!

Who Gave Twilight 4 Stars?

If you've seen the TV commercial for the just-released Twilight film, you've no-doubt seen them flashing a critic's rating of 4 stars for the teen vampire drama. Since I hadn't heard of any critic that loved the movie I decided to do a little investigating.
Thanks to TiVo I was able to rewind and pause on the rating to see "Shawn Edwards FOX-TV" in tiny print below the dazzling 4 stars.

And after Googling I found that Mr. Edwards is one of the country's most enthusiastic and quoted movie critics, thanks to his often glowing reviews of terrible movies such as:

Britney Spears's Crossroads: "Crossroads is a perfect teen dream. It has everything that makes a movie totally cool: laughs, adventure, spirit, hot music, drama and of course BRITNEY! Britney rocks! She is like a comet. A talent of her magnitude only comes around once in a lifetime and you can't take your eyes off her when she is on screen in this totally cool and delightfully hip movie."

NOT kidding.

TMNT - Totally awesome! So much fun you’ll want to see it twice.
Surf’s Up - A perfect 10. Totally entertaining. The coolest movie of the summer. ****
Georgia Rule - Wonderful! The surprise of the summer. A heartfelt, moving and touching film. Jane Fonda is exceptional. Lindsay Lohan’s performance is phenomenal.
Fred Claus
- One of the funniest comedies of the year.
Are We Done Yet? - The funniest, craziest, wildest comedy of the year. Perfect family entertainment.

Just to name a few more.

But that's not to say Twilight is bad. I haven't seen it. (And probably won't unless somehow someone obtains an advance copy of its DVD, puts it in my DVD player and tapes me to a chair to watch it... JK- they wouldn't have to restrain me. I just don't want to have to pay to see it.)

I would just say to be weary of anything reviewed as "Spectacularly Amazing!" by Shawn Edwards, and go see whatever else is out instead.

The COLDPLAY Concert Rocked My Face Off... Completely.

So if you follow me on Twitter or have talked to me in the last 3 days, you know that this past Wednesday I went to the COLDPLAY concert in Dallas, Texas and it freaked my freak.I had been to a COLDPLAY concert before with their X&Y album tour, which was also held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, and YALL> they were amazing the first time, but they were even MORE INCREDIBLY amazing this time.

This can be owed mostly to the fact that their latest album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, was a work of art that would make the Mona Lisa cry. But credit should also be given to those who designed the staging and lighting for this tour because it was fantastic as well. Here we find the setlist for the concert:
I honestly think it was the perfect set list; each song led into the next wonderfully and I was never, ever bored. Highlights were of course, "Fix You," "Viva La Vida," "Lost," "LOVERS IN JAPAN," "Death and All His Friends," and "Yellow."Notice I put "Lovers in Japan" in ALL CAPS because it was easily the most perfectly staged number, complete with an arena full of multi-color confetti butterflies. The moment was almost as moving as ones you may experience in a Cirque du Soleil show, except there were no flying acrobats to be found. BUT now that I mention that, yall, a Cirque du Soleil show featuring the music of COLDPLAY would be mind-blowing.
Anyway, I'm clearly still getting over the excitement from the night and as soon as I can pull it together I'll have a video posted. So keep checking YouTube.com/ajruck for updates!

Until then, VIVA LA VIDA!

Start a Love Train, Love Train

During this holiday season, while we're being inundated with terrible Christmas commercials, (see Toys "R" Us circa 1984 featuring EXTREMELY CREEPY ventriloquist man) let us remember a truly great Christmas commercial:

Seriously yall, will someone start the dang love train, love train?

Actually, nevermind. I'm starting it. Right now.

Who's gonna join me?!
