Trailer for Disneynature's first film: Earth --and much more!

I just came across the trailer for Disneynature's first film, earth. The movie, out on Earth Day (April 22, 2009) looks like it takes a lot of its footage from Discovery's "Planet Earth" series, and packages it into a Disney-fied movie complete with some sort of storyline.

And I'm all about that.

Disneynature also has several other pictures in the works:

The Crimson Wing: The story of the birth, life and death of a million crimson-winged flamingos from Lake Natron in Northern Tanzania.Ocean: The story of a fascinating journey into the depths of the ocean, amidst the tumult of storms, in the vast territory of those who inhabit the sea. Naked Beauty: The story of a bat, a hummingbird, a butterfly, bumblebee and honeybee- a story of hidden worlds of intrigue and drama, of sporadic violence and mesmerizing beauty that continually play out around us, but we seldom notice.
Orangutans One Minute to Midnight: The story of a 7-year-old orangutan and his 2-year-old sister, both orphans, searching for an adoptive mother in the Borneo Jungle Forest.
Big Cats: The story of three magnificent Big Cat mothers: a lioness, a leopard, and a cheetah as they discover their world and the dangers, frolic and excitement that go along with it. Chimpanzee: The story of Senegal, a tiny vulnerable baby chimpanzee- a story of growing up and learning to live in a complex social structure. A story similar to any human child. I'm so freaking excited about these films! I loved the "Planet Earth" series, and I'm sure that the Disney spin on nature will be just as awesome (or better). After all, Disney originated the idea of setting nature to a storyline back in the day with the True-Life Adventure series.

earth opens in theaters this coming Earth Day (April 22, 2009) and I'm guessing the others will begin releasing in late 2008/early 2009. Check out the Disneynature website for more details.
