Everybody Do the Halo - Beyonce's New Dance Craze

My sister and I recently developed what will probably be the newest dance craze since the Macarena. The dance, to Beyonce's new hit single, "Halo," is easy and fun for people of all ages to perform. Not surprisingly, we're currently in talks with Beyonce's "people" to incorporate the moves into her world tour choreography. Stay tuned for more details...

Wedding Entrance Dance

By now you may have seen the wedding entrance dance that's gone viral all over the interwebs, but if you haven't, no worries cuz it's right here:Basically these people do away with the traditional processional in favor of a choreographed dance to Chris Brown's "Forever" (which we'll forgive due to the song's appropriateness for a wedding).

Let's just say I'm jealous that this couple had enough friends willing to do something like this.

I can just see brides all over the place scrambling to get their friends together to choreograph something like this. And though if you do do it at your wedding, you won't exactly win originality points, but you'll surely please the congregation for not making them sit through the endless bridal march.

Let the bridal march dance off begin!

Go Sarcasm! Viva Mexico!

I get excited when I find people with a humor similar to mine, which is why I decided that I could probably be best friends with this kid in my online Spanish class after only reading his short intro on the discussion boards. (It was too long to post on Twitter which is why it's here.)

Let's begin with his funny acknowledgment of being an idiot and not knowing how to log-in.

Hello, my name is Andrew and this is the first day I have been able to login to this course. I'm not sure what that means except perhaps that I am already far behind in an intensive, four-week course. Hmm. If someone would like to console me by confessing to extreme procrastination that evens the playing field, I would be extremely grateful.

Most people would be all complainy complainerson about it not being fair that they couldn't log in and that they, in turn, should be offered some advantage that all the other smart kids didn't get. Instead, this guy just plays it cool in hopes that there is some other idiot who didn't start the class yet either.

Now we move on to the "about me" section, where Andrew has the opportunity to help the class get to know him better:

I attend the University of North Texas. I am majoring in journalism. I like charro beans, verde enchiladas and books by Spanish-speaking authors as long as they have already been translated into English. I recommend Jose Saramago.

This is where "Andrew" immediately became a friend of mine. I considered listing off my favorite Mexican foods in my intro before opting not to, but Andrew actually DID it. He then added the bit about liking books written in Spanish which made me think, "Oh, he must be smart. He reads books in other languages," only before I read "as long as they have already been translated into English," right after.

Look, there are three reasons for this post:

1) I'm bored and have nothing to do before I get lunch.

2) We could all learn something from "Andrew." Don't take yourself too seriously. If you screw up, oh well, forget about it and move on.

3) And lastly, when you introduce yourself to someone(s), it really is a good idea to lead with your favorite foods. People LOVE food and love talking about food and since the first thing they'll ever identify you with is food, they'll love you.

Disneyland World of Color

OK it's settled: I'll be making my first trip to Disneyland in California in the spring of 2010.

Part of the massive overhaul at Disney's California Adventure is the addition of "World of Color" to the lagoon near Paradise Pier. The fountain show will include water screen projections similar to those in Disney's Hollywood Studios' "Fantasmic," but "World of Color" takes it to a WHOLE nother level. The screen, as you can see, is absolutely massive at 380 feet wide.

I'm also excited at the inclusion of characters and storylines from more recent Disney films like Wall-E, Finding Nemo, and Pirates of the Caribbean.Though it will be a massive undertaking, if anyone can pull it off it's the Disney imagineers.
Look for this opening sometime in the spring of 2010, and look for me watching it every single night.

NEW Disney's Princess and the Frog trailer

I got to see this fantastic preview for Disney's upcoming return to 2D animation, "The Princess and the Frog," before screening "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."I always love when Disney brags about all their previous films because really, they have the right to. Every one they feature was an absolute masterpiece. I just hope it remains the same with P&F.

I had a dream last night that I saw P&F and that it was terrible, but that was a dream and really has no basis for how it turned out because I know nothing about this movie other than what I saw in this preview.

If you ask me it looks a bit like "Shrek" since the princess turns into a frog, too. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

In any case, I'm holding out hope that it's a return to Disney dominance of classical animation.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie review

I went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on opening day (not at midnight.. too late for this kind of movie), and I loved it!

It's definitely the funniest of the lot, and much of this can be owed to Lavender Brown, played by Jessie Cave.
I'll definitely be seeing this one again, but I'll probably wait until it's out in IMAX 3D (selected scenes) on July 29th.

Note: obviously MANY parts of the Half-Blood Prince book are left out of the movie. There's simply not enough time. However, I think they chose the best parts to include, and the movie still makes sense.

It's definitely set up for the final two installments of the Deathly Hallows.

Can't wait.

This is Why the Internet Exists

Just think: without the Internet we wouldn't have YouTube, and without YouTube, this person could not have posted a video solely dedicated to showing clips of Michelle and Uncle Joey from "Full House" set to Hilary Duff's "Wake Up."

Thank you, Internet, thank you.

Ashley Tisdale's got Aliens in the Attic

Ashley Tisdale's next big screen movie role comes in this month's "Aliens in the Attic." During filming the movie was known as "They Came From Upstairs," before producers apparently thought that would be too confusing and opted for the more direct "Aliens in the Attic."It pretty much looks terrible and also stars SNL's Kevin Nealon, Robert Hoffman, and Doris Roberts, the mom from "Everybody Loves Raymond."

The movie was filmed in January of 2008, several months before Tisdale filmed "High School Musical 3," which has already been in and out of theaters and on DVD for several months. It was set to be released in February of 2009 but was pushed back to July 31. Never a good sign.

Who knows, it could be good. But I like Ashley Tisdale so I just hope it doesn't hurt her career too much. It'll be interesting to see if any of the HSM kids besides Zac Efron can make successful careers for themselves.

Though, by the looks of the trailer for Vanessa Hudgens's August 14th release, "Band Slam," the outlook isn't great.
